Maize (Zea mays) is a plant of the grass family, native to the southern region of Mexico and northern Guatemala. It is an annual, summery, erect, with low tillering, monocline-monocline.
Characteristics of corn
Corn is a monocot with a slender stem, which can reach two meters in height.
The fruit is cylindrical, with medium-sized grains inserted in rows in the cob, forming ears.
The pericarp (outer layer) of the grain can be colorless, red, brown, or variegated.
The tip of the grain is the remaining part of the tissue (pedicel), which connects the grain to the cob.

Uses of corn

Maize is extensively used as human food or animal feed, due to its nutritional qualities.
It is rich in vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, vitamins B1 and B3, calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium.
