The V-2 engine is two-block with a V-shaped arrangement of cylinder blocks, four-stroke, twelve-cylinder, with forced liquid cooling.

The V-2 engine and its modifications are intended for installation on T-54, T-55, T-62, SU-100, SU-85, IS-2, IS-3 tanks, MTU-20, MTU-12 bridgeworkers.
