Description
CAB has been deeply involved in livestock breeding equipment for nearly 20 years. Numerous farm case studies have proven that calf islands can significantly increase calf survival rates to 95%. Newborn calves are moved to calf islands immediately after birth, making cleaning and disinfection easier. Combined with calf island management and proper tagging, this facilitates scientific feeding and allows for easy observation of the calves' health and mental state. Isolation also reduces the incidence of E. coli-induced arthritis, coccidiosis, and respiratory diseases in calves, as well as diarrhea and gastroenteritis. Laying rubber mats or soft bedding such as straw on the islands further enhances insulation. In many parts of the world, prolonged freezing and sub-zero temperatures are common in winter, making calf sheds a common choice for protecting calves. Calf sheds protect calves from harsh winter weather and provide shelter from sunlight, rain, wind, hail, and other factors. Calf sheds are primarily used for dairy calves as a way to isolate them from other calves, allowing keepers to monitor them and provide personalized care. Calves are born with immature immune systems, making them susceptible to illness and other health problems. Isolating newborn calves in a clean environment for 7 to 10 days allows them to begin building their immune system, while closely monitoring their milk intake, feed consumption, and fecal condition. A calf pen includes: a polyethylene calf pen, a hot-dip galvanized fence, and two milk buckets.
