Description
Aflatoxins are secondary metabolites produced by fungi of the genus *Aspergillus*, including *Aspergillus flavus* and *Aspergillus parasiticus*. They primarily contaminate crops such as corn, peanuts, and nuts. Aflatoxins are mainly classified into four types: AFB1, AFB2, AFG1, and AFG2. Total aflatoxin levels generally refer to the sum of these four toxins. They are classified as Group 1 carcinogens and have been proven to pose significant risks to organs and tissues such as the liver and kidneys in humans and animals. Aflatoxins are potent and highly toxic carcinogens. This kit uses an indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to detect aflatoxins (AFTs) in samples such as cereals and feed. The kit consists of a microtiter plate coated with conjugated antigen, HRP conjugate, antibody, standards, and other supporting reagents. During the detection process, by adding standards or samples, AFTs in the sample compete with the conjugated antigen and bind to anti-AFT antibodies. After adding the HRP conjugate, the sample is stained with TMB substrate. The absorbance value of the sample is negatively correlated with the AFT content. Finally, by comparing the obtained concentration with the standard curve and multiplying it by the sample dilution ratio, we can conclude the presence of AFT residues in the sample.
