The Microchip Technology AT25x SPI serial EEPROM is designed for applications that require low power and low voltage operation. These EEPROMs feature block write protection, 20MHz clock cycles, self-timed write cycles, write protection pins, and write inhibition instructions. The AT25x EEPROM is enabled via a chip select pin (CS) and accessed through a 3-wire interface. The 3-wire interface includes a serial clock (SCK), a serial data input (SI), and a serial data output (SO).
The AT25x SPI serial EEPROM includes block write protection, which is enabled by programming the status registers with one of four write protection blocks. These EEPROMs provide separate program enable and program disable instructions for additional data protection. Hardware data protection via the Write Protection (WP) pin prevents unintentional write attempts to the status registers.
