Alkyl glycosides (APGs) are nonionic surfactants made from renewable plant-based raw materials. They are natural, mild, and green products. They exhibit low surface tension and good detergency; good solubility, resistance to high temperatures, strong alkalis, and high-concentration dielectrics; good thickening effect; good compatibility, able to combine with various ionic and nonionic surfactants to produce synergistic effects and significantly improve the mildness of the formulation; good foaming properties, producing rich, fine, and stable foam; good skin compatibility, non-toxic, non-irritating, and rapidly and completely biodegradable. Alkyl glycosides can be widely used in personal care and household detergents such as shampoos, bath gels, facial cleansers, hand soaps, and shower gels, as well as in daily chemical detergents such as transparent soaps, laundry detergents, and dishwashing liquids. They have gained particular consumer recognition in the field of baby and maternity cosmetics. Alkyl glycosides exhibit excellent solubility, permeability, and compatibility in high-concentration strong acid, strong alkali, and electrolyte solutions. They are non-corrosive to various materials and are particularly suitable for use in dishwashing detergents, household cleaning, industrial hard surface cleaning, high-temperature and strong alkali resistant refining agents in the textile industry, and foaming agents in petroleum extraction.
