Picosecond laser theory
According to the principle of selective photothermolysis, the shorter the laser action time, the less likely the laser energy absorbed and accumulated in the target tissue will diffuse to the surrounding tissues. The energy is confined to the target that needs to be treated to a greater extent, protecting the surrounding normal tissues, and thus the treatment selectivity is stronger. The pulse width of a picosecond laser is only one percent of that of a traditional Q-switched laser. Under this ultra-short pulse width, light energy does not have time to be converted into heat energy, and almost no photothermal effect is produced. After being absorbed by the target, its volume expands rapidly, producing a photomechanical effect and being blasted and torn into pieces.
