Description
AZS bricks, also known as fused AZS refractories, are named in order of their concentrations of the three main oxide components – alumina (Al2O3), zirconia (ZrO2), and silicon dioxide (SiO2). The abbreviations A, Z and S are taken from the first letter.
The manufacturing process of molten AZS block mixes selected zircqisand and industrial alumina powder in a ratio of 1:1, plus a small amount of Na2O (added in the form of sodium carbonate) and b20 in the form of borax) flux, and mixed evenly, melted at 1800 ~ 1900 °C and then cast to produce 33% ZR02 molten casting blocks. On this basis, partially desilicated zircon sand can be used as raw material, industrial alumina powder and selected zircon sand as raw materials, fused casting blocks containing 236% to 41% ZrO can be produced, and refractory products with zroz content of 33% to 45% can be prepared. Molten AZS blocks are mainly used in qlass industrial tank kilns, molten AZS blocks are mainly used for refractories in high-temperature corrosion-resistant kilns such as qlass industrial tank kilns, landslides in the steel industry and kilns in the soda industry.
The numbers indicate the percentage of zirconia and alumina. For example:

* AZS-41 indicates 41% ZrO2 electrofused lining material

Cast AZS33 bricks are widely used in glass furnaces such as superstructure block stones, working pool side walls, paving bricks, feeder channels, pool bottom pavement turns, C-shaped material basins and feeding port vaults.
Cast AZS36 bricks are mainly used for side walls, charging ports, throats, dam blocks, electrode bricks, and corner bricks of feeding ports;
Cast AZS41 bricks are mainly used for side walls, feeding ports, throats, bottom bubble bricks, kiln bricks, electrode bricks, and corner bricks at the feeding port.
AZS brick raw material
AZS refractories are divided into 33#, 36# and 41# grades according to zirconia content.
The main raw materials of high-quality electrofused AZS bricks include:
* High purity alumina (Al2O3 > 98.5%)
* Zircon sand (ZrO2 > 65.6%)
* Desilicide Zircon (ZrO2 > 85%)
* Soda ash (Na2CO3 ≥ 99%)
* Borax (B2O3 ≥ 37%)
* Rare Earth Oxides (Y2O3 ≥ 45%)
An aliquot of alumina and zircon sand yields approximately 33% ZrO2 AZS-33. Higher zirconia AZS-36 and AZS-41 require the addition of desilicide zircon. This also improves AZS-33 performance.
Alumina is obtained by refining bauxite to remove silicates, iron, titanium, and other oxides to a very high purity level above 98% Al2O3.
Desilicified zircon is produced by smelting zircon concentrate with carbon in an electric arc furnace to reduce silica. Zircon, also known as zirconium silicate, contains 67.1% ZrO2 and 32.9% sio2. Its high melting point of 2550 °C, low expansion, and chemical resistance to liquids and acids make it ideal for AZS bricks.
